Appellate judges reject full court hearing of Griffin-Riggs election dispute
The full North Carolina Court of Appeals will not hear the election dispute involving a seat on the state Supreme Court. Instead a three-judge panel with two Republicans and one Democrat will consider the case on March 21.
Bipartisan NC Appeals Court panel rejected Griffin’s December election request
Three months after its decision, the North Carolina Court of Appeals has revealed the names of judges who ruled against colleague Jefferson Griffin in December during the early stages of his election dispute. Chief Judge Chris Dillon and Judges Tobias Hampson and April Wood issued a unanimous Dec. 10 order against Griffin. Dillon and Wood are Republicans. Hampson is a Democrat.
Griffin opposes full Appeals Court hearing, Murry recusal in election dispute
Republican state Supreme Court candidate Jefferson Griffin opposes Democrat Allison Riggs’s proposal for the full state Appeals Court to hear Griffin’s case challenging more than 65,000 ballots cast in the Nov. 5 election. Griffin also opposes Riggs’ request that one appellate judge not take part in the case at all.

Republican state Supreme Court candidate Jefferson Griffin argued in his latest court filing Monday that counting 65,000 “illegal” ballots would disenfranchise the millions of North Carolina voters who cast legal ballots in the Nov. 5 election. The state Court of Appeals is hearing Griffin's election dispute with the State Board of Elections and Democrat Allison Riggs.
