State’s highest court rejects fired UNC professor’s ‘whistleblower’ suit
The North Carolina Supreme Court has declined to take up the case of a fired University of North Carolina professor who claimed to be a whistleblower. Without comment, the state’s highest court rejected Richard Semelka’s petition to review a June 2023 ruling from the state Court of Appeals.

Locke joins SCOTUS brief in Maryland gun case
The John Locke Foundation has helped file a friend-of-the-court brief at the nation’s highest court in a case challenging Maryland gun restrictions. Second Amendment supporters filed a petition on Feb. 8 asking the US Supreme Court to take the case, Bianchi v. Brown, before the 4th US Circuit Court of Appeals could issue a ruling.

UNC-Chapel Hill event with Candace Owens draws overflow crowd
Turning Point USA’s spring college tour kicked off this week with a stop at UNC-Chapel Hill featuring conservative commentator Candace Owens. Over 600 attendees completely filled the event space Wednesday night and many more registrants were barred from entering due to the limited capacity.
