This week, the National Governors Association (NGA) released “Building the Foundation for Bright Futures: Final Report of the NGA Task Force on School Readiness.” Two years of work from the task force and more than a decade’s worth of research has gone into the list of recommendations, sorted into “Ready States,” “Ready Schools,” “Ready Communities,” “Ready Families,” and “Ready Children.” Also valuable to this study is a companion piece, “A Governor’s Guide to School Readiness,” which ties the policy recommendations to concrete examples.
