North Carolina Private Education Administrator Retires After 25 Years

RALEIGH — At the time of Rod Helder’s 1985 appointment, about 5 percent of North Carolina students attended private schools. Since then, the percentage of North Carolina students in private education has exploded from 5.1 percent to 10.6 percent, with much of the growth coming from homeschoolers.
