The U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit dealt a blow to the federal Affordable Care Act this morning, striking down health insurance subsidies for people enrolled in exchanges run by the federal government.

The 2-1 ruling in Halbig v. Burwell held that the Internal Revenue Service regulation authorizing tax credits in the 34 states with federal exchanges was invalid.
